About The Position
Schedules patients for surgery at designated surgery centers. Responsible for obtaining insurance pre-authorizations, surgery consents and providing patient education regarding the surgery. Prepares the surgery schedule for the physician and forwards to the designated surgery center.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 year Medical office experience
Responsibilities
- Communicates and documents essential information to physicians and team members.
- Prepares referral follow up letters and dictations for referring physicians for the physicians review and signature.
- Completes all routine duties/tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to meet scheduled deadlines on assigned projects. (Pre-Op Forms, H&P from PCPs)
- Maintains a safe and clean work area.
- Obtains insurance pre-authorizations for surgical procedures.
- Reviews surgical prices for self-pay patients and for patients having procedures not covered by insurance.
- Serves as a Liaison between patients and financing institutions for self pay patients.
- Prepares charts for surgery to include surgery work up forms and consents prior to surgery date.
- Reviews all patient education after the physician has gone over risks and benefits with the patient.
- Has patient sign all pre-operative consent forms.
- Prepares surgery schedule for designated surgery centers and forwards all H&P Information, Pre-Op orders to the surgery centers.
