· Schedule surgical appointments for the practice · Obtain reports of lab work, X-ray, EKG reports by primary care doctor, cardiologist, etc. and fax to the appropriate facilities · Obtain surgical authorizations in accordance with insurance company guidelines to ensure proper financial clearance · Communicate with referring providers regarding scheduling and completion of surgeries · Check-in and check-out patients as needed; responsibilities will include verifying and obtaining insurance and demographic information, collecting co-payments, and scheduling follow-up appointments · Answers the phone in a timely, polite and professional manner, in three rings or less, directs calls to appropriate persons and takes accurate messages within the electronic medical record · Demonstrate the ability to adjust to unexpected changes to assure that all responsibilities /duties are met during absences or increased patient volumes. · Maintains harmonious and cooperative relations with fellow employees, medical staff, patients and guests · Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information in accordance to HIPAA regulations · Float to front desk for coverage when needed · Ability to float to other MACC practices when required · Perform other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested
