About The Position

For complex surgical events (care coordination beyond surgery scheduling requiring two or more services' expertise) will provide coordination services, beginning with patient family first contact, evaluation and continuation through and after surgical event; may include pre, post and ancillary testing such as scans, consults and coordination of such appointments; will help facilitate access to and provide continuity of care; assist families with addressing/resolving their funding concerns; assist with PCP notifications; provide appropriate interactions with provider team, staff, patients and families to assure smooth transitions throughout the surgical event stages.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Surgery Coordinator or equivalent leadership role.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Family Service Coordinator or equivalent clinical reception/coordinator experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Terminology.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s Degree or at least two (2) years of college coursework in healthcare or a related field.
Significant experience (4 years or more) working with the general public in a healthcare/customer service environment.
Familiarity with other cultures/bilingual skills.

Responsibilities

Provide coordination services for complex surgical events, starting with patient/family first contact, through evaluation, and continuing after the surgical event.
Coordinate pre-operative, post-operative, and ancillary testing such as scans and consults, including scheduling these appointments.
Facilitate access to care and ensure continuity of care for patients.
Assist families in addressing and resolving funding concerns.
Assist with Primary Care Physician (PCP) notifications.
Ensure smooth transitions throughout all stages of surgical events through appropriate interactions with the provider team, staff, patients, and families.
