About The Position

As a Surgical Center Medical Receptionist, you'll play a key role in creating a welcoming patient experience while supporting the daily administrative and clinical operations of the surgery center.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Minimum one (1) year of hands-on experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a medical office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EMR systems
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with the healthcare team
  • Strong understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
  • Professional, compassionate, and patient-focused approach

Nice To Haves

  • Previous healthcare facility experience preferred
  • Familiarity with medical insurance billing

Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients by checking them in and out
  • Register patients, collect co-pays and deposits, and verify required documentation
  • Work within EMR systems to support clinical and administrative workflows
  • Create, maintain, file, and organize patient medical records
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls professionally and courteously
  • Schedule, reschedule, and optimize patient appointments, including managing waitlists and cancellations
  • Schedule follow-up appointments and document scheduling outcomes
  • Prepare patient paperwork, insurance information, and required consent forms
  • Obtain and accurately record patient information while maintaining confidentiality
  • Prepare examination rooms and assist with general administrative duties
  • Provide compassionate support to patients and their families
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, facility policies, and annual training requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
