About The Position

Texas Oncology/Texas Breast Specialists Cedar Park is seeking a Surgical Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their Breast Specialists team. This is a full-time role supporting the Cedar Park location, with a typical work week of Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 5 pm, and no call, weekends, or major holidays. The position can be at Level 1, 2, or Sr based on candidate experience. Texas Oncology Cedar Park offers a highly collaborative, team-based environment with strong organizational and clinic support. The APP will work closely with an experienced breast surgeon and a dedicated APP partner. The role involves a mix of in-office procedures and follow-up visits, focusing on building patient relationships and ensuring continuity of care. Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner: Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Physician Assistant: Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Level 1: 0-3 years of experience, preferably in a surgical or outpatient care setting.
  • Level 2: 3 years of experience.
  • Level Sr: 6 years of experience.
  • Registered Nurse First Assistant (RFA/RFNA) certification required (hybrid role only).
  • RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
  • Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current state license as a Physician Assistant in practicing state.
  • Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
  • Current NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive assessments of patients referred for surgical evaluation.
  • Performs pre-operative history and physical exams, reviews diagnostic imaging and labs, and assists in surgical planning.
  • Provides post-operative follow-up care, including wound assessments, suture/staple removal, and monitoring for complications.
  • Educates patients and families on surgical procedures, expectations, recovery timelines, and self-care.
  • Coordinates care with surgeons, nursing staff, and ancillary services to ensure seamless transitions across the surgical continuum.
  • Documents all patient encounters, assessments, and plans of care in the electronic medical record in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives and incorporates evidence-based practices into clinical care.
  • Develops foundational knowledge of outpatient surgical billing and documentation requirements.
  • May assist with in-office procedures with appropriate training.
  • Assists in the operating room as first or second assist, following institutional credentialing and training requirements, including patient positioning, prepping, draping, and procedural support (hybrid role only).
  • Performs post-operative rounds and communicates findings to the surgical team (hybrid role only).
