About The Position

Assists operating room personnel in providing high-quality care to patients of all ages undergoing surgical procedures. Ensures the operating room is properly cleaned and prepared for procedures and transports surgical patients to the OR prior to surgery.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BCLS required.
• No experience required.
• Understands basic principles of aseptic technique, infection prevention, and workplace safety.

Responsibilities

• Follows DMH policy for identifying patients before transporting them to the OR.
• Cleans operating room suites and surrounding areas according to DMH policy and procedure guidelines.
• Protects patients’ privacy and maintains respectful, professional behavior with patients and family members; reports patient or family concerns to the leadership team.
• Takes responsibility for cleaning and other assigned work, and ensures assigned areas are stocked with necessary supplies.
• Handles and transports surgical specimens to the appropriate location as needed.
• Cleans and transports special equipment before and after procedures, and reports malfunctioning equipment to the leadership team.
• Assists with positioning patients for surgical procedures.
• Follows instructions, adapts to change, and remains accountable.
• Works effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress area.
