About The Position
Surgical Associate I – St. Peter's Hospital - PACU. This is a full-time position with an evening shift from 11 am - 7 pm, with no weekends or holidays. St. Peter's Health Partner's is a Magnet Hospital in the Capital Region, recognized for its quality of life and career opportunities. The role involves assisting the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) teams with direct and indirect patient care, functioning as a member of the PACU “Hot Team” under the direct supervision of a registered perioperative nurse. Primary functions include transporting patients and environmental services. Additional functions include assisting with direct patient care, applying aseptic principles and techniques, supporting resource and environmental management, and professional development. The role requires significant amounts of lifting, pushing/pulling, and standing.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-2 years of experience in a health care environment
- Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) credential within 30 days of hire (provided by SPHP)
Responsibilities
- Identifies and transports correct patients to correct locations (next phase of care).
- Demonstrates proper body mechanics while transferring and positioning patients.
- Assists with patient positioning and emergence from anesthesia.
- Identifies basic PACU equipment and supplies.
- Transports and stores equipment.
- Cleans equipment according to manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Restocks assigned areas.
- Obtains and delivers supplies and equipment.
- Performs environmental cleaning according to housekeeping matrix.
