About The Position

Our office, Randolph Center for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery - Hackettstown is seeking an experienced surgical dental assistant to join our fast-paced oral surgery practice. We are looking for a talented and skilled Surgical Assistant to help us accomplish our mission to improve the lives of our patients by providing a world-class specialty experience for every patient. This role involves ensuring excellent patient service and assisting the Dentist with administrative and basic dental tasks. The Surgical Assistant will focus on addressing patients' needs, concerns, and questions, and ensuring patients remain relaxed and comfortable during their visit, serving as their primary point of contact. The position requires maintaining a clean and sterilized environment, assisting in procedures, and managing patient care before, during, and after treatment.

Requirements

At least 3+ years of experience as a surgical assistant with dental assisting experience, oral surgery experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods.
Understanding of health & safety regulations.
Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks.
Good computer skills.
Excellent communication and people skills.
A strong attention to detail.
Well-organized and reliable.
A high school diploma.
A certificate from an accredited surgical assistant program (if required by law).
An active state radiology license (if required by law).
Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to operate standard office equipment.
Must be able to assist patients safely in and out of chairs or treatment areas.
Must be able to maintain clinical positioning for extended periods.
Must be able to work around medical equipment and instruments.
Must be able to adhere to OSHA and infection control standards.
Must be able to perform repetitive hand and wrist movements.
Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations.

Nice To Haves

Oral surgery experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

Prepare the surgical area, instruments, and equipment before each procedure.
Assist the surgeon during procedures by anticipating the surgeon's needs and assisting as required.
Assist with implant placement, IV sedation cases, and radiographs.
Keep surgical areas and instruments clean and sterilized.
Monitor and record patient vitals and ensure patient comfort and safety.
Prepare and provide post-operative instructions and materials to patients.
Help maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation.
Ensure compliance with OSHA and Infection control protocols.
Perform other duties as assigned by the surgeon or office manager.
Facilitate/coordinate other office responsibilities as needed.
