Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Find it easy to connect with others and quickly build trust.
  • Have a sense of responsibility and take your role seriously.
  • Have a definite interest in the field of health and in helping others.
  • Be comfortable with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365 (knowledge of EMR systems is an asset).
  • Flexible availability to work Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the healthcare field is considered an asset (Optometric Assistant, Orderly, Dental Assistant, Pharmacy Lab Technician, Sterilization Assistant, Animal Health Technician, Veterinary Assistant, Medical Device Reprocessing Technician, etc.).
  • Knowledge of EMR systems is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Sterilize instruments and set up tools as needed.
  • Reassure patients before and after their procedure and ensure they feel at ease showing empathy.
  • Clearly explain the post-operative medication (eye drops) schedule to patients.
  • Coordinate the flow of patients in and out of the operating room.
  • Be comfortable working on your feet in the operating room and within the operating room area.
  • Be a stickler for details and work with precision and accuracy.
  • Like working in a team and know by heart the actions to take to coordinate each intervention.
  • Help support other technical roles as needed, such as Clinical Assisting.
  • Support the organization’s Risk Management program by identifying and promptly reporting patient safety concerns, incidents, or potential risks to clinic management, to assist in the organization’s overall efforts to identify, report, and mitigate risks.
