About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This position assists operating surgeons with intra-operative procedures like homeostasis, exposure, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions that assist the surgeon in carrying out a safe procedure with optimal results for the patient. Develops specialized preoperative plans in coordination with appropriate surgeons and health team members. Prepares surgical tools and equipment, takes preventative measures to ensure applicable health and safety regulations are satisfied, and assists with patient positioning when necessary. Administers preoperative medications and reports the responses of patients to assigned surgeons and anesthesiologists.

Requirements

  • Eligibility to sit for the certification of Surgical Assistant exam.
  • Current registration through the applicable state board of nursing as a Surgical Technologist while also having current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Certified Surgical Assistant, CSTFA, or RNFA preferred.
  • Candidates who have their first assist certification, but willing to train if not.
