About The Position

The Surgical Assistant is responsible for packing supplies for the Operating Room (OR) and meeting the team at a pre-determined location. This role involves being available for recoveries on scheduled call days and emergency call coverage. The Surgical Assistant must adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and regulations. A key responsibility is the recovery of donor organs in accordance with the policies, rules, and regulations of XVIVO Services Inc., its clients, and its medical and surgical staff. The position also requires participation in hospital and medical staff committees related to donor issues as requested by affiliated transplant centers. The Surgical Assistant partners with the leadership team to facilitate process and operational improvements in areas such as quality, operations, education, performance, and organizational initiatives. Ensuring a high level of client, team member, staff, and surgeon satisfaction is crucial. The role exemplifies the company's philosophy of service in all interactions, embracing the XVIVO Services Inc. mission and vision, and contributing to a team-based culture. Additional duties may include performing other functions related to the office of SA and clinical coordinator, or as requested by leadership. The Surgical Assistant promotes and fosters an interdisciplinary approach to service delivery, builds strong relationships with community partners and clients, and works to develop, build, and sustain processes and protocols to meet company goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science or equivalent experience in a transplant-related field
  • Experience in the pre-operative and post-operative care of transplant donor and recipient patients
  • 3-5 years of healthcare experience, hospital-based experience preferred
  • Skill in planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and leading a variety of activities
  • Team-oriented with the ability to partner across all functions within XVIVO Services Inc.
