About The Position
The Surgical Aide provides support to the surgical team under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Transports patients, prepares equipment and supplies, transports specimens and assists in room turnover.
Requirements
- Understands basic aseptic technique.
- Understands the security requirements of medications and IV solutions
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)

Responsibilities
- Transports patients to and from the operating room.
- Assists with patient transfers on and off the operating room table. Assists with positioning as directed.
- Assists with operating room turnover between cases.
- Gathers operating room equipment and positioning devices as needed. Cleans and returns equipment to correct storage location.
- Restocks basic operating room and anesthesia supplies.
- Accesses medications or IV solutions only as required to perform normal job duties, complying with all state and federal regulations regarding medication and IV solution security.
- Stages team case carts and equipment as directed.
- Checks and records anesthesia refrigerator temperature and reports discrepancies.
- Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
- Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.
