About The Position

Texas Colon & Rectal Specialists is looking for a Surgery Support Coordinator to join their team at the Plano Prestonwood location. Texas Colon & Rectal Specialists is a specialty surgical division within Texas Oncology, dedicated to providing advanced treatments for colon and rectal diseases and disorders. As one of the largest colorectal care specialist groups in the United States, they are committed to offering compassionate and cutting-edge colorectal healthcare. This role supports a mission to provide patients with the most advanced care for conditions such as anal abscesses, fistulas, fissures, colon cancer, hemorrhoids, and ostomy care. The team is part of Texas Oncology, which treats more cancer patients than any other provider in Texas.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
  • Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule surgical procedures as ordered by physicians.
  • Prepare pre-op and surgical paperwork promptly.
  • Ensure paperwork is submitted to appropriate individuals and institutions as required.
  • Ensure patients are completely informed regarding surgery procedures.
  • Facilitate scheduling pre-operative and/or post-operative appointments.
  • Respond to patients inquiries regarding surgery times and preparation before surgery.
  • Schedule post-surgical appointments.
  • Contact insurance companies for surgery and in office precertification.
  • Maintain supply of surgery kits.
  • Create claims in Athena for surgery kits & collect fee from the patient.
  • Complete financial responsibility form, have the patient sign and scan into the chart.
  • Collect surgery deposits and post in Athena.
  • File and document all information appropriately in the patient’s EMR chart.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
