About The Position

The Staff Pad has partnered with a reputed healthcare organization in Hamilton, TX and we are looking to hire a dependable Surgery Scrub Technician to assist in nursing care activities and institutional services in the operating room under the direction of a Registered Nurse and according to departmental policies. In this role you will be responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, assembling, and preparing surgical instruments and equipment for patient care. This is an OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Category I position with routine exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials. This position performs a variety of surgical support, patient care, instrument processing, and environmental service duties to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of care within the Surgical Services Department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions & communicate effectively
  • Ability to schedule procedures using professional phone etiquette
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to assist with patient transfers and occasional heavy lifting as needed
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and professional standards
  • Provide exceptional customer service and foster positive patient relationships
  • Follow aseptic and infection control practices
  • Follow Healthcare System safety policies and procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Operating Room Technician training, certification, and experience preferred
  • Knowledge of surgical scrub duties preferred

Responsibilities

  • Function as a scrubbed member of the surgical team, preparing the OR, equipment, supplies, patient, and sterile field
  • Perform room turnover and end-of-day cleanup, including handling soiled materials and instruments & maintaining equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness of the OR, PACU, and patient care areas
  • Provide age-appropriate care for patients across the lifespan (neonatal to geriatric)
  • Observe and report patient conditions to support individualized care & meet age-specific needs
  • Transport patients to and from surgical and recovery areas
  • Assist with the preparation and transport of specimens to designated locations
  • Clean, inspect, assemble, sterilize, disinfect, and store instruments and trays for Surgical Services and clinic locations & in accordance with protocols
  • Select and prepare instruments and supplies according to surgeon preference cards & procedure requirements
  • Test equipment before & after procedures and report malfunctions to the nurse in charge
  • Assist with inventory management of equipment and supplies
  • Assist surgeons during procedures by handling instruments, supplies, retractors, applying casts, and dressings while maintaining aseptic technique and patient safety
