About The Position

The Surgery Scheduling Specialist coordinates the scheduling of patient procedures for General surgery and Colorectal procedures. Ensures procedures are scheduled effectively, accurately, and efficiently with productivity and quality standards. Facilitates communication between self, providers, staff and patients to ensure needs of patients are met.

Requirements

H.S. Diploma/GED
Customer service experience
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (ARMA) - American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (AMT) - American Medical Technologists (AMT)
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (AAH) - American Allied Health (AAH)

Responsibilities

Schedules patients for procedures in General Surgery and Colorectal procedures.
Collaborates with other departments to provide interdisciplinary care for patients
Prioritizes care based on procedure, patient population and available staff.
Reviewing provider schedules to prevent errors and directing any necessary changes to leadership.
Must maintain productivity and quality measures in all areas.
Answers and operates telephone.
Listens and evaluates needs of callers, then handles appropriately.
Rooms patients including performing and documenting vital signs and preparing patient to see the surgeon, as needed.
Verifies insurance benefits and communicates information to patients.
May set up or assist with in office procedures.
Maintains all instruments by following procedures for sterilization to CS and keeping rooms supplied and reviewing for expiration dates.
