The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling procedures. This role ensures efficient scheduling of surgeries, maintains accurate records, and serves as a liaison between physicians, hospital staff, and other multidisciplinary healthcare team members. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and possesses excellent communication skills to provide exceptional service to both patients and medical professionals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.
  • 1+ years of experience in a healthcare environment required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology with working knowledge of computerized scheduling system.
  • Knowledge of personal computers and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet required
  • General knowledge of multi-phone lines, fax machine, copiers, printers and other general office equipment required
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a multidisciplinary team
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in scheduling and documentation
  • Problem solving skills to handle scheduling conflicts and assist in offering solutions
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality practices
  • Must be able to pass background check.
  • We also conduct pre-employment physical and drug testing. Any job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical with a drug screen, background check and obtaining active licensures per job requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • Clinical background in surgery preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and efficiently schedules patients ensuring appropriate timing and resource availability while following established protocols
  • Communicates scheduling details to patients, physicians, and surgical teams as needed
  • Maintains a high level of customer service. Utilizes positive interpersonal skills with both internal and external customers in the daily performance of duties.
  • Adheres to HIPPA regulations and maintains confidentiality and respect for patient rights.
  • Assists with rescheduling or cancellations as needed
  • Employee is responsible for all other duties as assigned for which competency has been demonstrated.
