About The Position

Responsible for the proper scheduling of impending procedures.

Requirements

  • Must have excellent communication skills and ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels within Bend Surgery Center and external customers, clients and potential employees
  • Strong team working and collaborative skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft office products
  • Must have knowledge of and ability to perform basic office skills
  • Must have exemplary customer service skills
  • Must be organized, flexible and versatile with the ability to function effectively in stressful situations
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • At least two (2) years experience in some aspect of the medical field to assure familiarity with medical terminology.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with scheduling surgical procedures is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules all surgical, gastroenterological (GI), and pain-management procedures
  • Has knowledge and understanding of the surgery schedule and the format utilized by the center
  • Coordinates specific scheduling requests for time and equipment
  • Notifies Nurse Manager of special messages from physician’s office
  • Works effectively with physician offices to manage the surgery schedule
  • Provides accurate, timely and responsive information to Physicians and other stake holders
  • Coordinates processes as required to meet physician and facility requirements
  • Acts as a primary liaison for physician offices regarding patient information
  • Manages physician blocks; releasing and filling blocks when necessary to increase patient census
  • Coordinate with Materials Management and Sterile Processing to ensure required supplies and equipment are available for cases
  • Confirm schedule of patients with physician offices
  • Provide appropriate facility staff with information, schedule changes or cancelations
  • Coordinate patient information with business office personnel including Medical Records and Insurance verification
  • Requests patient records as required by the Physician
  • Adheres to safety policies and practices good body mechanics and ergonomics
  • Follows all rules and regulations for PHI and HIPAA protections of patient information
  • Follows all policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, attendance, timeliness, and safeguarding confidential information
  • Reports incidents in a timely manner
  • Promotes patient and employee safety and communicates concerns appropriately, following Chain of Command
  • Attends in-service programs as requested
  • Performs other related duties as directed
