About The Position

The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for scheduling inpatient, outpatient surgery center, and outpatient clinic procedures according to standards established by EvergreenHealth Surgical Services and EvergreenHealth Surgical Center. The role obtains required insurance pre-authorizations and benefit information, including estimates of copayments and deductibles, and communicates that information to patients. The position also assists with other clerical duties needed for efficient clinic operations.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Two years of scheduling experience in a medical environment.
• Strong medical terminology, including anatomy and physiology.
• Keyboarding speed of 45 words per minute.
• Spelling, punctuation, grammar, and numerical skills.

Nice To Haves

• College or vocational training in medical terminology, insurance, and billing.
• Experience with surgery scheduling.
• Knowledge of Medicare, DSHS, and other third-party reimbursement regulations.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgeries and procedures at EvergreenHealth based on the availability of space, staffing, and equipment, including inpatient, outpatient surgery center, and outpatient clinic cases.
• Work cooperatively with schedulers at EvergreenHealth surgical facilities.
• Obtain insurance prior authorizations.
• Obtain insurance benefit information, estimate copayments and deductibles, and communicate estimates to patients.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
