About The Position

The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for scheduling inpatient, outpatient surgery center, and outpatient clinic procedures according to standards established by EvergreenHealth Surgical Services and EvergreenHealth Surgical Center. The position obtains necessary insurance pre-authorizations and assists with other clerical duties needed for efficient clinic operations.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Two years of scheduling experience in a medical environment.
• Strong medical terminology knowledge, including anatomy and physiology.
• Keyboarding speed of 45 words per minute.
• Spelling, punctuation, grammar, and numerical skills.

Nice To Haves

• College or vocational training in medical terminology, insurance, and billing.
• Experience with surgery scheduling.
• Knowledge of Medicare, DSHS, and other third-party reimbursement regulations.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgeries at EvergreenHealth according to the availability of space, staffing, and equipment for inpatient, outpatient surgery center, and outpatient clinic procedures.
• Work cooperatively with schedulers at EvergreenHealth surgical facilities.
• Obtain insurance prior authorizations.
• Obtain insurance benefits, estimate copays and deductibles, and communicate this information to patients.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
