About The Position

The Surgery Scheduler at Livingston Surgery Center is responsible for utilizing Epic OpTime to accurately schedule surgery procedures. This role involves coordinating complex, multi-disciplinary ("combo") procedures to optimize scheduling and resource utilization. Additionally, the Surgery Scheduler will support the onboarding and training of newly hired schedulers through orientation and precepting, and deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders by applying best practices and adhering to standard operating procedures. The primary function is to schedule surgeries, coordinate with patients, physicians, and hospital staff to ensure efficient and timely surgical procedures.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
Two years of medical secretary experience, required.
Knowledge of filing, word processing, spreadsheet, medical terminology, coding, and office skills.
Excellent customer service skills to interact with department staff and the public.
Interpersonal skills necessary to deal with the public in a polite and effective manner.

Surgical scheduling experience, preferred.

Responsibilities

Schedules surgeries by coordinating with patients, physicians, and other medical staff.
Confirms patient eligibility for surgery by reviewing medical records and insurance coverage.
Coordinates pre-operative testing and medical clearance for patients.
Ensures that all necessary equipment and supplies are available for the scheduled surgeries.
Communicates any changes in the surgical schedule to all relevant parties.
Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of all scheduled surgeries and related information.
Utilize Epic OpTime to accurately schedule surgery procedures.
Coordinate complex, multi-disciplinary ("combo") procedures to optimize scheduling and resource utilization.
Support the onboarding and training of newly hired schedulers through orientation and precepting.
Deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders by applying best practices and adhering to standard operating procedures.
