About The Position

Dignity Health Medical Group (DHMG) is the employed physician group of Dignity Health Arizona, employing approximately 400 providers and 1200 support staff across a wide variety of specialties. DHMG has experienced significant growth, now offering over 73 subspecialty services. The physicians are involved in clinical services, academic roles, research, and leadership, and DHMG actively participates in training future healthcare providers with 84 medical students and approximately 200 residents and fellows across 25 academic programs. Requirements

  • High School Graduate / GED
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or completion of an U.S. Armed Forces medical services training program. Candidates who completed a program prior to February 2, 2000 can satisfy the minimum education requirements by providing evidence of direct supervision by the same physician, physician group, or physician assistant for a minimum of 2000 hours.
  • Demonstrated experience with computer program utilized for checking-in and scheduling patients
  • American Heart Association BLS card
  • One year related Surgery Procedure Coordinator experience
  • Familiarity with operating room scheduling processes is critical
  • Coordinate schedules for physicians, ORs, anesthesiologists, equipment, labs
  • Ability to effectively interact with insurance carriers
  • Gather and record financial and insurance information and ensure authorizations are obtained prior to the procedure/surgery

Responsibilities

  • Provide a basic level of patient care and treatment.
  • Assist with obtaining vital signs.
  • Document chief complaint.
  • Obtain patient history.
  • Provide assistance to physicians, residents, and/or licensed nursing personnel.
  • Alert physician of problems/concerns/abnormalities.
  • Coordinate the schedules of physicians, operating rooms, anesthesiologists, equipment, lab work, and any other required items/staff in accordance with a physician's recommendation for patient care.
