About The Position

The Perioperative Services Scheduler receives and enters provider requests accurately and efficiently. They clearly communicate information to perioperative services staff as required to ensure the integrity of the surgery schedule. This function is the beginning of patient care and critically impacts surgeons, anesthesia, staff and most importantly the patients. As a member of Peri-operative services, employees should seek to anticipate the needs of our surgeons, patients, anesthesia providers and peers. Thoughtful anticipation is the key attitude employees should strive to achieve in all of their interactions. Employees should use this value to create a positive, helpful, and supportive environment for our patients to receive care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Fluent in English
  • PC literate
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Ability to meet physical demands as stated in - “Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions” at the end of this purpose description

Responsibilities

  • Receive and process scheduled surgery requests from physicians
  • Receive information via fax, electronic file or phone and input to computer so all critical information is transmitted and communicated correctly helping to ensure best possible patient outcome.
  • Work with office staff to ensure accurate information is provided in the most effective manner when scheduling cases
  • Provide procedure time information to the OR Supervisor, team leads and others requiring scheduling information
  • Work with Pre-Anesthesia Screening Services Staff to schedule appointments
  • Maintain scheduling strips on the “Schedule Board” to ensure all information is accurate
  • All other duties as assigned
