About The Position

MedVet Atlanta is seeking a motivated and skilled Surgery Licensed Veterinary Technician to join their advanced, collaborative 24/7 emergency and multi-specialty hospital. This role is ideal for technicians seeking training in various aspects of the surgery department and opportunities for interaction with other hospital teams. The position requires strong communication skills to effectively liaise between surgeons and clients, and to provide clear post-operative care instructions. The hospital is a 20,000 sq ft facility equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, fostering an environment of medical excellence and continuous improvement.

Requirements

State Licensed Veterinary Technician license required.
Prior veterinary experience required.
Previous surgery experience required.
Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.).
Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Manage appointments, obtain patient histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, and patient discharges.
Fill medications, enter charges, and maintain accurate medical records.
Schedule appointments.
Create patient releases and discuss treatment plans and financial obligations with clients.
Prepare patients for surgery, including shaving, scrubbing, and positioning.
Assist with intubation and radiographs.
Proficiently perform blood draws and submit bloodwork.
Ensure documentation is accurate and complete.
Open, turn over, and clean operating rooms.
Clean instruments and wrap packs.
