About The Position

MedVet Atlanta is seeking a Surgery Licensed Veterinary Technician to join their advanced, collaborative 24/7 emergency and multi-specialty hospital. This role is ideal for technicians seeking training in various aspects of the surgery department and interaction with other hospital teams. The position requires strong communication skills to effectively liaise between surgeons and clients, and to provide post-operative care instructions. The hospital is a 20,000 sq ft facility equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, fostering an environment of medical excellence and continuous improvement.

Requirements

State Licensed Veterinary Technician license required
Prior veterinary experience required
Previous surgery experience required
Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

Manage appointments, obtain patient histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc.
Fill medications, enter charges and maintain accurate medical records, schedule appointments.
Create patient releases, navigate client conversations around treatment plans and financial obligations.
Prep patients for surgery, including shaving, scrubbing and positioning, assist with intubation and radiographs.
Proficiently perform blood draws and submit bloodwork.
Ensure documentation is accurate and complete.
Opening, turning over and cleaning operating rooms, as well as cleaning instruments and wrapping packs.
