About The Position

The Surgery and MRI Scheduler is responsible for ensuring a smooth and positive experience for surgical and imaging patients by coordinating care, managing scheduling, and serving as a liaison between patients and the imaging and surgical departments of Animas Surgical Hospital. This role supports both the front and back of the office, including health information support, pre-authorizations and insurance verification.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a clinical or medical office setting.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to ten (10)+ pounds.
  • Stooping, kneeling, sitting, crouching, reaching, grasping, handling, and balancing five (5) or more hours per day.
  • Sensory and communicative activities including: hearing, seeing, and speaking to be able to carry out essential job functions.
  • Hepatitis B- Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Hepatitis B or three doses Hep B vaccine at appropriate intervals
  • Influenza- documentation of current seasonal flu vaccine (mandatory from November 1st through March 31st each year)
  • Measles, Mumps, and Rubella - Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella or 2 doses of MMR Vaccination
  • Varicella (chickenpox) - Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Varicella or 2 doses of Varicella Vaccine
  • Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap) - documented proof of immunization
  • Tuberculosis Screening - Documentation of a two-step TB skin test within the past year OR lab verification of a negative TB Gold or T-Spot tuberculin test within the past 6 months

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
  • Experience with scheduling systems and EHR software strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule for surgeries and MRI appointments
  • Perform verification of insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorization as needed
  • Coordinate with external medical device vendors to secure specialized implants and instrumentation for scheduled procedures
  • Submit requests for missing or incomplete documentation
  • Communicate with patients and/or their families to provide necessary surgical instruction and confirm appointments
  • Schedule patient pre-operative and post-operative appointments
  • Handle phone calls, messages, and patient inquiries as needed
  • Follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA guidelines at all times
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
