About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a certified welding training program or apprenticeship.
• Proven experience in surface welding or a related welding discipline.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.
• Familiarity with welding safety standards and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
• The Surface Welder Technician utilizes their welding skills daily to execute precise and durable welds that meet technical specifications and safety standards.
• Their ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols ensures that each weld is applied correctly and efficiently.
• Strong problem-solving skills are essential when identifying and correcting welding defects or equipment issues.

Nice To Haves

• Certification from the American Welding Society (AWS) or equivalent.
• Experience working with a variety of metals including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
• Knowledge of welding inspection techniques and non-destructive testing methods.
• Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting purposes.

Responsibilities

• Perform surface welding tasks using various welding techniques such as TIG, MIG, and stick welding to repair or enhance metal components.
• Interpret and follow detailed blueprints, welding symbols, and technical specifications to ensure accurate weld placement and quality.
• Inspect welded surfaces for defects and perform necessary adjustments or repairs to meet quality standards.
• Maintain welding equipment and ensure all tools are in safe, working condition before and after use.
• Collaborate with engineers, quality control personnel, and other technicians to troubleshoot welding issues and improve processes.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols and industry regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
• Document welding activities, including materials used, weld parameters, and inspection results for quality assurance purposes.
