About The Position

V2X is hiring a Surface Prep Technician to support its Modernization and Sustainment site in Indianapolis, Indiana. The role prepares and finishes parts by removing coatings, excess material, and surface defects with abrasive tools and specialized equipment. The technician selects suitable materials and techniques, prepares surfaces for later processes, and checks finished parts for quality and conformance to specifications. The position is listed as 2nd shift.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
0–2 years of experience.
Ability to read and interpret prints, drawings, process routings, and specifications.
Thorough knowledge of metals, plastics, and other materials and their reactions to surface preparation operations.
Knowledge of surface preparation techniques, abrasive materials, coating removal methods, and blending techniques.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.

Responsibilities

Remove coatings, excess material, and surface defects using revolving abrasive wheels, belts, and other specialized tools.
Blend surface imperfections and coatings to achieve a uniform appearance.
Prepare surfaces for subsequent processes, ensuring proper adhesion and finish quality.
Smooth surfaces and produce specified finishes using appropriate techniques and equipment.
Select abrasive materials, tools, and equipment based on the material, finish specification, and coating being removed.
Replace worn abrasive materials and tools.
Examine parts for finish acceptability and conformance to specifications.
Read and interpret prints, drawings, process routings, and specifications.
