About The Position

RMB Products is seeking a Surface Prep Operator (3rd shift) who is responsible for preparing metal and other surfaces for coating, lining, and painting operations. This position performs abrasive blasting, masking, material handling, and surface inspections to ensure parts are properly prepared and meet customer, engineering, and Company quality standards. Schedule: 3rd shift M-F 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM w/ OT as needed. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of surface preparation, abrasive blasting, painting preparation, or related manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Current forklift certification, or the ability to obtain certification through the Company-sponsored training program.
  • Current crane and rigging certification, or the ability to obtain certification through the Company-sponsored training program.
  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, production documents, and safety procedures.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maneuver throughout a manufacturing environment, climb, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to successfully complete respirator fit testing and maintain certification for respirator use.
  • Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance and report to work as scheduled to effectively perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and respect in all interactions with coworkers, customers, suppliers, and visitors.
  • Perform work safely and comply with all Company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare metal and other surfaces for coating, lining, or painting by performing abrasive blasting and other approved surface preparation methods in accordance with work instructions and quality standards.
  • Mask, protect, and prepare parts, components, and surfaces to ensure coating and lining materials are applied only to designated areas and meet customer and Company specifications.
  • Load, unload, move, and position materials and products using overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment as required.
  • Inspect prepared surfaces to verify cleanliness, surface profile, and readiness prior to coating or painting operations.
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and inspection of blasting equipment, tools, and work areas to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Read and follow work orders, process instructions, and production schedules to complete assigned work accurately and on time.
  • Identify and report equipment issues, damaged parts, or quality concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while supporting 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with other production, finishing, or material handling duties as assigned.
