Requirements

  • Four years of technical experience in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, geology, biology, ecology, or a closely related field; or A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, geology, biology, ecology, or a closely related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
  • All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.
  • You must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Learn how to inspect surface lands, streams, structures, and utilities around mining areas to support public safety
  • Assist in assessing hazards like methane or other gases and provide recommendations to reduce risks
  • Provide information to citizens and officials about mining regulations and respond to concerns
  • Help resolve claims related to subsidence damage by gathering field data and coordinating with property owners
  • Collect GPS and environmental data and prepare summaries for technical staff
