About The Position

The Surface Land Representative is responsible for securing and maintaining land access necessary to support environmental, construction, remediation, excavation, and oil & gas projects. This position serves as the primary liaison between Tasman, landowners, clients, and project stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution. This role requires strong negotiation skills, relationship management, and the ability to coordinate across multiple teams and projects in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate thrives in a field-oriented, people-facing role and is comfortable navigating complex land access and stakeholder situations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in land services, right-of-way, surface land, environmental, oil & gas, or related field
  • Experience working directly with private landowners and stakeholders
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, plats, aerial imagery, and property records
  • Strong communication, organization, and multitasking abilities
  • Working knowledge of oil & gas, environmental work, and land access requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Reliable transportation for field visits
  • Valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of surface land or right-of-way experience
  • Experience supporting oil & gas, remediation, reclamation, or construction projects
  • Familiarity with property records, easements, and land ownership documentation
  • Membership in relevant industry organizations

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for private landowners regarding project access and land use
  • Negotiate right-of-entry agreements, temporary workspace agreements, and access permissions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, clients, operators, and stakeholders
  • Address concerns and resolve land access challenges collaboratively
  • Coordinate access requirements with project managers, field personnel, and clients
  • Conduct site visits to assess access needs and project constraints
  • Identify utilities such as flowlines, pipelines, electrical systems, and underground infrastructure
  • Coordinate with landowners, operators, and utility representatives
  • Document site conditions and communicate findings to project teams
  • Support planning by identifying access risks and site limitations
  • Support environmental remediation, reclamation, excavation, and construction projects
  • Coordinate access activities to maintain project schedules
  • Assist with permitting and land-related compliance requirements
  • Collaborate with operations, safety teams, and clients to support project success
  • Maintain detailed records of landowner communications, agreements, and site visits
  • Track project status and access requirements
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and documentation
  • Maintain organized project files in accordance with company and client standards
