About The Position
Philadelphia Insurance Companies, a member of the Tokio Marine Group, is seeking a Surety Underwriter II for its Seattle, Washington; Portland, Oregon; or Lone Tree, Colorado office. Under moderate direction and supervision, the role underwrites and markets assigned products, applying intermediate risk-assessment and technical underwriting expertise to determine whether risks are acceptable. The position has a minimum surety authority of $750,000.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- At least three years of contract surety underwriting experience.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, generate new business, and be detail oriented.
Nice To Haves
- Contract surety underwriting experience with a carrier is preferred.
- AFSB designation preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of and participate in regional marketing activities to promote new business development.
- Gather and analyze information and apply underwriting techniques to accurately evaluate risk acceptability.
- Evaluate credit quality as needed.
- Prepare and participate in proposals to producers and/or accounts, negotiating terms and conditions.
- Help ensure the credit quality of managed accounts and maintain and update underwriting files.
- Participate in producer management, which may include premium collections.
- Prepare underwriting submissions and make recommendations and/or decisions within established authority limits.
