About The Position

Philadelphia Insurance Companies, a member of the Tokio Marine Group, designs, markets and underwrites commercial property/casualty and professional liability insurance products for select industries. We are looking for a Surety Engineer or Sr. Surety Engineer to join our team in Lone Tree, CO! Summary: A typical day would include the following: Assists in the investigation, analysis and evaluation of liability of performance and payment claims. Develops, implements and manages Surety’s strategy plan to mitigate losses by conducting analysis of cost-efficient methods of completion to mitigate exposure. Establishes relationships with preferred consulting vendors nationwide; oversees tasks performed by consultants and drafts engagement letters, scopes of work and budgets for retention of local consultants or trade specialists. Evaluates the operational strength of existing or potential accounts and coordinates with accounting consultants to measure the financial strength of accounts. Performs operational reviews to evaluate the quality of estimating, project management, accounting, and home office/field personnel. Review long term business objectives and surety credit needs. Provide opinions and recommendations on the account’s method of internal controls, job cost systems, and financial reporting. Analyzes bid results and accuracy/completeness of the account’s bid and provides a recommended course of action. Performs pre-bid risk reviews when necessary. Monitors and reports trends that may be impacting the construction or surety industries at a regional or national level. Assists with planning of educational seminars. May support training and coaching of junior staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering, Construction Management or similar type major
  • 5+ years construction and/or surety related experience
  • 20-40% travel required
