Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline (business administration, engineering, finance, etc.) with 4-7 years related maintenance and construction experience or in lieu of a degree, 6-9 years combination of formal education/training and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of Company work, environmental and safety practices including a working knowledge of gas and/or electric distribution standards and the ability to maintain or obtain gas-up authorization.
  • Basic understanding of substation construction and inspection work practices, operating procedures and standards.
  • Working knowledge of PC-based and job/work management applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, schedule, manage and coordinate daily work activities.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage a working group of construction inspection personnel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to anticipate and resolve problems promptly.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet Company driving standards.
  • Must pass U.S. Dept of Transportation required chemical test.
  • Must pass MD State Temporary Traffic Control Traffic Manager's Training Course within 6 months.
  • Ability to pass required Operator Qualification (O.Q.) training per D.O.T., if required.
  • Availability to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years related work experience in maintenance and construction.
  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with Electrical Underground Distribution
  • Experience administering large dollar project construction and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of PASSPORT
  • Knowledge of the Bargaining Unit Agreement(s) as it impacts construction of projects and the workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, coach, and direct Construction Managers (CMs), including internal and contracted, in the execution of scheduled and emergent work activities, to ensure the highest levels of customer service and to achieve safety, reliability, and productivity goals.
  • Ensure Construction Managers are overseeing work performed is built to standard, within budget, on schedule, and assessing risk to minimize adverse conditions affecting projects including challenging man-hour estimates and participating in job walk downs.
  • Reinforce Company Standards, Work Practices and Procedures. Develop inspection program, setting goals and metrics, tracking spending, and developing and maintaining reports.
  • Provide training/onboarding and monitor the performance of company and contractor personnel and milestone schedules to ensure quality, safety and meeting specified service dates.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with contractor management and take corrective action as required to assure quality installations, which meet customer expectations.
  • May be involved in reviewing and providing feedback on contracts and what is included as part of the price (blanket and lump sum contracts).
  • Develop and maintain working relationships among organizational units throughout the department and with internal customers as well as governmental agencies.
  • May be a liaison with governmental agencies to resolve conflicts and communicate information related to contractor maintenance and construction activities (as necessary).

  • Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $104,000.00/Yr. – $143,000.00/Yr.
