Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center (VBPC), a 100-bed psychiatric hospital in Virginia Beach, VA, specializes in acute psychiatric and substance abuse services for adults. VBPC is seeking a Recreation Therapy Supervisor to join their team. This role requires availability to work weekends and holidays. The position involves providing recreation services, assessing patient functioning, developing programs, maintaining therapeutic relationships, ensuring a safe environment, and supervising Recreation Therapy staff and interns, including managing time and attendance.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree from an accredited school in Therapeutic Recreation.
• CTRS certification or licensure within the respective field required.
• Valid Virginia Driver’s License required.
• 1-3 years experience working with adults within a psychiatric environment required.

Responsibilities

• Provides prescribed and individual recreation services to patients.
• Assesses, maintains, and develops programs to access social, cognitive, physical, and emotional functioning.
• Maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients.
• Assists in the maintenance of a safe, clean therapeutic environment.
• Assures that patients participate in recreation therapy activities.
• Documents patient progress and participation.
• Supervises the Recreation Therapy staff and Interns, including time and attendance.
