About The Position

Meridell Achievement Center is a 134-bed, seclusion free, psychiatric residential treatment facility located northwest of Austin. Our 60-acre campus is complete with mature oaks, rolling hills, and plenty of walking paths and outdoor spaces. We have 7 unique living units separated by gender, age, and development needs with a swimming pool, gymnasium, sports court and playing fields. We provide 24-hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 10 to 17 years old with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs to teach young patients to moderate their behavior, manage emotions and improve social functioning. WE ARE LOOKING FOR A POSITIVE, ENCOURGAING, AND COMPASSIONATE LEADER. 5 SHIFTS PER WEEK INCLUDING WEEKEND DAYS FROM 11:00 AM TO 7:00 PM EACH DAY. The Mental Health Technician Supervisor provides supervision and guidance to all staff on an assigned unit. Assures safety of patients and staff and responds to challenges of patient populations by following approved and therapeutic policies and strategies. Abides by service excellence standards and a culture of accountability. Engages in a positive and encouraging way with supervisees, peers, colleagues, patients, administration, and parents.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • One to three (1 - 3) years of experience related to psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Current driver license.
  • Customer service and communication skills.
  • Leadership skills – sets the example on the unit.
  • Understand and uphold safety standards.
  • Use of mobile devices and electronic mail..
  • Scheduling software.
  • Run a group with patients to encourage and provide feedback.
  • Conflict resolution and de-escalation.
  • Train staff to effectively resove and de-escalate conflict.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Trains staff in all job duties and provides ongoing support for staff with patients.
  • Meets weekly with patients in a group setting to provide and receive feedback about the program, field complaints and address them, and encourage patient progress.
  • Interacts effectively with interdisciplinary treatment teams.
  • Provides schedule for all staff in a timely and accurate way.
  • Generates fair and effective evaluations and performance reviews annually.
  • Ensures unit is ready every day for parent walkthroughs, audits, licensing visits and an overall positive patient experience.
  • Completes all required paperwork in a timely way so that charts are current and correct.
