About The Position

The Supervisor, Central Processing is responsible for directly supervising Central Processing Technicians, resolving operational problems, and maintaining department policies and procedures. The role implements new procedures and coordinates in-services with the Administrative Manager, OR/CPD Educators, and Surgical Materials Managers.

This position is based at Royal Oak Hospital in the Sterile Processing South Tower department. It is full time, with a 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. evening schedule, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, and on-call weekends.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years of experience as a Central Processing Technician.
• Computer experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Knowledge of surgical equipment.
• Upon hire, one of the following certifications is required: Central Services Technician certification from HSPA, or Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) certification from CBSPD.

• One to two years of college.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct subordinates’ day-to-day work, and assist with daily departmental operations.
• Respond to and resolve most front-line operational problems.
• Coordinate in-services, meetings, training, and new-personnel orientation with the CPD educator, manager, and surgical materials manager.
• Maintain discipline and administer corrective actions as warranted.
• Assist with interviewing candidates for open positions and make hiring recommendations.
• Develop new procedures and update existing procedures.
• Accumulate quality improvement statistics and report them to the manager.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service by exhibiting the hospital’s ten customer service behaviors in every aspect of the job.
