About The Position

The Supervisor Aircraft Appearance supports our Purpose by providing overall supervision, performance management, training, and support of assigned Aircraft Appearance personnel and operations. This role provides positive Leadership and ensures Aircraft Appearance delivers legendary Customer Service to both internal and external Customers. The Supervisor Aircraft Appearance is a skilled communicator and strong people leader who looks forward to making a meaningful impact on Technical Operations. This role supports all hours of the Southwest Operation, including early mornings, late evenings, and holidays.

  • Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
  • Fully functioning, broad knowledge in: Aircraft Appearance or other Airline Operations
  • Must be able to obtain a SIDA (Secured Identification Display Area) badge and meet all local airport requirements
  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to access restricted areas requiring climbing, crawling, and kneeling
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be able to work varying shifts including nights and weekends
  • Must be able to work extended hours as necessary to meet deadlines
  • Must be able to travel with some overnight stays to meet the requirements of the position
  • Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary and sensitive Company information

Responsibilities

  • Provides supervision of all Aircraft Appearance Technicians on duty
  • Ensures workplace safety and that all OSHA and HAZMAT requirements are met
  • Ensures compliance with all TSA security requirements
  • Monitors productivity and labor hour requirements
  • Ensures the collective bargaining agreement is followed
  • Requests, assigns, and approves overtime
  • Ensures compliance of Aircraft Appearance program and task card requirements
  • Monitors, inspects and approves the completed work of aircraft exterior and interior cleaning performed on shift
  • Monitors Lead Appearance Technician assignments of personnel
  • Maintains accurate records of work accomplished each shift and provide turnover report
  • Ensures the Hangar and Line facilities are clean before the end of the shift
  • Monitors and orders cleaning supplies and notifies the Manager of Aircraft Appearance of any needs
  • Monitors sick leave and leaves of absence of all Appearance Technicians and takes appropriate action, including discipline when necessary
  • Ensures Aircraft Cleaning Vendor is complying with proper cleaning and security search procedures/policies and documentation.
  • Conducts quality audits on Aircraft Cleaning Vendor and submits results to both SWA and Vendor Leadership
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
