The Supported Independent Living Worker (SIL) role focuses on providing quality service to clients to ensure their needs are met, including maintaining a safe, comfortable, and clean living environment. This position involves supporting adults in gaining independent living skills, assisting with daily living activities such as meal preparation, household chores, and laundry, as well as facilitating community access for educational, recreational, and community programs and events. The role requires patience, empathy, and the ability to foster independence in clients. Workers are expected to communicate with their immediate supervisor about any serious problems or concerns encountered and to ensure all required documentation is completed. Understanding the roles and responsibilities of the Emergency On-call System is also part of the job.
