About The Position

Pathways is a leading mental health and addiction service in Aotearoa, empowering individuals to live full lives in their communities. This role is based in a picturesque setting amongst vineyards in Nelson, at a predominantly aged care mental health site. The facility is a six-bed residential service committed to helping residents lead fulfilling and joyful lives, specializing in supporting older clients with mental health needs. The position is permanent and part-time, working Friday and Saturday awake night shifts (11pm – 7:30am). The role involves supporting individuals to achieve their recovery goals, enhance their well-being, and live meaningful lives. This includes assisting with meal preparation, cleaning, administrative tasks, comprehensive note-taking, effective handover, and collaborating with colleagues. While residents sleep, the Support Worker will complete tasks such as cleaning, maintaining filing systems, first aid kits, emergency kits, and preparing paperwork. The role requires a recovery-focused approach and impeccable attention to detail, with a commitment to culturally safe practice and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Requirements

  • Hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing level 4 (or a recognised equivalent)
  • Hold a current comprehensive first aid certificate covering units 6400, 6401 and 6402 or be willing to obtain one within 3 months of employment
  • Have a cultural awareness, knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Responsibilities

  • Care for tāngata whaiora during the night to ensure they have what they need
  • Support individuals to support their recovery, enhance their wellbeing, and help them live a meaningful life
  • Assist with meal preparation and cleaning up
  • Focus on the individuals needs and providing culturally safe practice
  • Complete relevant administrative tasks, comprehensive notes and effective handover
  • Support and collaborate with your colleagues
  • Support clients using a recovery model
  • Complete tasks such as cleaning and maintaining filing, first aid kits, emergency kits and preparation of paperwork while clients sleep
