This role is for a Supported Living Service in Southport, PR8, supporting a new resident who is a 46-year-old lady with a learning disability, autism, and some mental health challenges. She requires support with personal care, medication administration, cooking, cleaning, paying bills, and organizing her days. The role involves waking night shifts from 8 pm to 8 am, with a guaranteed shift pattern of 36 hours per week. The charity values individuals with heart and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, including those with and without prior experience in social care.

Requirements

  • Must be a female support worker.
  • Willing to work Waking Nights - 8 pm to 8 am (36 hours per week).
  • Training in medication administration.
  • Familiarity with the PBS (Positive Behavioural Support) approach to supporting behaviour that may challenge.
  • Ability to provide significant emotional support.
  • Friendly, approachable, trustworthy, flexible, and adaptable.
  • Skilled to support the individual's specific needs.
  • Possess values aligned with caring and supporting others.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in social care.
  • Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health challenges.
  • Experience with Harry Potter, drawing, colouring, teddies, dolls, and Disney films.
  • Experience in activities like walking and horse riding.
  • Ability to provide sensory stimulation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide waking night support from 8 pm to 8 am.
  • Support a 46-year-old lady with a learning disability, autism, and mental health challenges.
  • Assist with personal care, medication administration, cooking, cleaning, paying bills, and organizing days.
  • Provide emotional support and build relationships with the individual.
  • Offer planned activities that stimulate senses without overwhelming.
  • Recognize and manage environmental factors that may be too noisy or crowded.
  • Give time for processing information before expecting a response.
  • Support the individual's desire for independence with patience and time.
  • Work with a staff team that includes day support and a sleep-in staff member in the main house.
