About The Position

The Support Technician supports the installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of engineered fire, life safety and security systems in commercial and industrial environments. This entry-level role focuses on developing foundational technical skills, understanding system components and layouts, and learning safe work practices while contributing to efficient job site operations, quality execution, and team productivity under direct supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under direct supervision.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude preferred.
  • Must have a clean driving record and active driver’s license, if driving role.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation of conduit, piping, wiring, and system components for engineered fire suppression systems including clean agent, CO2, foam, and dry chemical systems.
  • Support inspection, testing, and maintenance activities in accordance with NFPA standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Assist with system commissioning activities including device checks, functional testing, and system verification.
  • Observe and learn blueprint, schematic, and submittal interpretation to understand system layouts and sequences of operation.
  • Assist in identifying system deficiencies, code violations, and installation issues, and support documentation of findings.
  • Stage materials, tools, and equipment to ensure efficient workflow and job site productivity.
  • Support loading and unloading of materials and assist with basic warehouse and logistics functions as needed.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles in safe and operational condition.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace in accordance with company safety standards.
  • Follow all OSHA, NFPA, and company safety procedures including proper use of PPE.
  • Use of hand tools and testing equipment under supervision.
  • Travel to job sites as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Adheres to Pye-Barker Fire & Safety policies, safety standards, and code of conduct.
