About The Position

AbleLiving Services is seeking a Part-Time Support Services Worker for its Binbrook team. AbleLiving Services is part of the Thrive Group, a not-for-profit organization funded by Ontario Health. The Binbrook location provides support for individuals with disabilities, seniors, and those requiring long-term chronic ventilation support. This position reports to the Support Services Program Coordinator and involves laundry and housekeeping services, as well as food services and prep-cook responsibilities. The role includes collecting and laundering personal laundry, performing housekeeping in client rooms and common areas, assisting with food inventory and meal preparation, and ensuring safe food handling practices. Requirements

  • Access to a reliable vehicle or reliable transportation is required as this location is not accessible by public transit.
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check or Police Records Check.

Nice To Haves

  • At least a Grade 10 education.
  • Ability to obtain a Food Handler’s Certificate within 60 days of starting.
  • Enjoy working in a team and with seniors or adults with disabilities in a home-like setting.
  • Reliable, punctual, and possess great time management skills.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing, bending, and lifting items of varying weights.
  • A positive attitude and excitement to contribute to a caring community.
  • Experience in long-term care or retirement home settings.
  • Knowledge of cleaning detergents and laundering equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting, laundering, and returning clients' personal laundry.
  • Performing housekeeping tasks in clients' rooms and common areas.
  • Assisting the Cook with maintaining food inventory, meal preparation, and setting and serving meals to clients.
  • Ensuring safe food preparation and handling practices.
  • Keeping client rooms and common areas clean, tidy, and safe using appropriate equipment and cleaning products.
  • Washing, drying, folding, and returning client linens and clothing, with occasional simple sewing repairs.
  • Assisting with meal preparation, maintaining food inventory, and ensuring safe food handling while helping serve meals to clients.
  • Working with the Cook, other staff, and clients to create a welcoming environment.
