About The Position

We are currently seeking a Part Time Personal Attendant to work with our AbleLiving Binbrook Team at our congregate living program! AbleLiving Services is part of the Thrive Group. We are a not-for-profit organization that provides services funded through Ontario Health. Ableliving opened its doors in 1978 with the first project being our Binbrook location. Our Binbrook location provides supports for individuals with disabilities, seniors, as well as those with long-term chronic ventilation support needs. Please note: this location is not accessible by public transit - access to a vehicle or reliable transportation is a requirement for this position. Under the direction of the program supervisor, this position is responsible for providing non-medical personal support services, life-skills support and light housekeeping duties to enable clients to live as independently as possible. Duties include assisting clients with personal care, arranging and escorting clients to appointments, and housekeeping services. Such duties are carried out under the direction of the client or alternate decision maker and in accordance with Client Service Contracts, laws and regulations governing service provision.

Requirements

  • Experience in the provision of personal support services to people with disabilities and/or seniors
  • High School Diploma
  • Ability to empathize with people with physical and emotional needs
  • Knowledge of basic math and ability to do calculations and quantity measurements
  • Must be able to plan and organize work and perform tasks according to priority
  • Ability to make solid decisions and problem-solve effectively
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with a competent level of English
  • Must demonstrate high commitment to providing exceptional customer service and be reliable, punctual, and capable of managing time effectively
  • Ability to develop supportive relationships and work collaboratively with clients, family members, colleagues, volunteers, and community partners
  • Must be able to take direction and work independently as well as part of a team
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check or Criminal Reference Check is required
  • Access to a vehicle or reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

  • Additional certification in personal support care, first aid, health care or other related qualification
  • Able to communicate in other languages
