About The Position

The Fulton County Board of Health is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of SUPPORT SERVICES WORKER/Breastfeeding Counselor within the Community Health Services/WIC Division. This is a grant-funded, time-limited position. The role involves providing basic breastfeeding support to WIC participants, counseling them on the benefits of breastfeeding, overcoming common barriers, and ensuring a successful and positive experience aligned with their individual goals. The position also assists breastfeeding mothers with breastfeeding issues.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 or older
  • Hold GED/high school diploma

Nice To Haves

  • Enthusiastic and positive about breastfeeding and wants to help other mothers have a positive experience.
  • Has breastfed at least one baby for a minimum of six months.
  • Is currently or a former WIC participant.
  • Has good communication skills.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a paraprofessional who provides basic breastfeeding support to WIC participants.
  • Counsels and gives breastfeeding information to WIC pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
  • Informs participants about the benefits of breastfeeding, overcoming common barriers, and assuring a successful and positive experience meeting their individual breastfeeding goals.
  • Assist breastfeeding mothers with breastfeeding issues.
