About The Position
Under general supervision, this position assists with traffic control, school zones, jail support, courtroom security, and special events. Responsible for maintaining all traffic and support equipment. Assists all departmental divisions as needed. Reports to the Commander/Corrections Division.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or its equivalent
- One (1) year of experience in a job related field
- Successful applicants must pass a psychological examination, drug test, a full driving and criminal background check, and a polygraph examination.
Responsibilities
- Directs traffic at intersections, accident scenes, fire scenes, school crossings, and special events or any assigned location.
- Assists stranded motorists and citizen needs.
- Provides escorts for funerals, parades, and oversized loads.
- Performs animal control duties when necessary.
- Supports patrols in the city on foot or in a vehicle.
- Drives around the city locating road hazards which may include assisting citizens, Public Works, or other utility companies as needed.
- Maintains support ATV, UTV, and high water vehicles, generators, chainsaws, and other small tools in a ready state.
- Observes activities and looks for any situation that does not appear normal for the area, time of day, weather conditions, etc.
- Utilizes equipment and supplies such as a midsize truck, in-car GPS system, phones, camera, car radio, walkie-talkie, vehicle unlock tools, tire jacks, power tools, etc.
- Interacts with co-workers, supervisors, Command Staff, drivers, victims at crashes, citizens, merchants, etc.
