To provide a comprehensive secretarial support service to consultants, junior medical staff, specialist nurses and medical secretaries, ensuring the highest level of confidentiality is maintained at all times. The post holder will be required to demonstrate a significant level of initiative in organising their workload and in making decisions and taking action in accordance with departmental policy. This role involves providing high quality audio-typing and word processing with medical terminology, obtaining investigation results and exercising judgement to ensure urgent attention is drawn to abnormal results. The post holder will also ensure all information and messages are communicated efficiently and correctly, act up in the absence of the Senior Team Secretary, respond promptly to enquiries, accurately create and update patient records, and assist with training new staff. Compliance with Trust and Departmental Policies and procedures, and participation in staff meetings are also key aspects of the role.
