About The Position

The Support Route Driver fills in on open, vacant, or temporarily unassigned routes to support daily delivery operations. The role requires flexibility to cover varying routes and schedules according to business needs while maintaining safety, service, and delivery standards. Drivers deliver and pick up freight from customers and shippers and may travel as required. The schedule is Monday through Friday, starting at 7:30 a.m. and continuing until completion of the route. An additional 10–15 hours of overtime may be expected each week; weekend overtime is voluntary and may be available as needed. Overtime is paid at one and a half times the regular rate after 40 hours per week. Starting pay is $21.00–$26.25 per hour, based on experience and other relevant qualifications, skills, and internal equity. This is a full-time, nonexempt position.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Hold a valid driver's license and have a good driving record that meets company standards.
Be able to pass a DOT physical exam.
Be able to bend, lift, twist, climb stairs, and move freight on and off the company vehicle.
Be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
Be able to work with freight that may include hazardous materials, perishable food, alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals.
Be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Ability to operate a manual transmission, or willingness to learn.
Good customer service skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

Cover open, vacant, or temporarily unassigned routes based on business needs.
Deliver and pick up freight from customers and shippers in a timely manner.
Inspect the vehicle and report mechanical problems.
Load the truck in an organized manner to use space effectively and prevent package damage.
Collect payments for certain delivered packages.
Verify pickup contents against shipping papers.
Notify management of problems or discrepancies.
Maintain a professional personal appearance and keep the vehicle clean.
Travel as required.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
