About The Position

The Support Route Driver fills in on open, vacant, or temporarily unassigned routes to support daily delivery operations. The role requires flexibility to cover varying routes and schedules based on business needs while maintaining safety, service, and delivery standards. The schedule is Monday through Friday, starting at 7:30 AM and continuing until the route is complete. An estimated 10–15 hours of overtime may be expected each week, with voluntary weekend overtime as needed. Overtime is paid at time and a half after 40 hours per week. Starting pay is $21.00–$26.25 per hour, based on experience and relevant qualifications, skills, and internal equity; the posting notes that employees are generally hired below the range maximum to allow room for compensation growth. Spee Dee Delivery is a family-owned and operated company founded in 1978. Its core business is standard, next-day ground delivery. The company is headquartered in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and employs more than 1,800 people across the Midwest. This is a full-time, nonexempt position. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Hold a valid driver's license and have a good driving record that meets company standards.
Be able to operate a manual transmission or be willing to learn.
Have good customer service skills and the ability to work independently.
Be able to pass a DOT physical exam.
Be able to bend, lift, twist, and climb stairs while moving freight on and off the company vehicle.
Be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
Be able to work with freight that may include hazardous materials, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals.
Pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

Cover open, vacant, or temporarily unassigned routes based on business needs.
Deliver and pick up freight from customers and shippers in a timely manner.
Inspect the vehicle and report mechanical problems.
Load the truck in an organized manner to use space effectively and prevent package damage.
Collect payments for certain delivered packages.
Verify pickup contents against shipping papers.
Notify management of problems or discrepancies.
Maintain a professional personal appearance and keep the vehicle clean.
Travel as required.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
