About The Position

Spee Dee Delivery is a family-owned and operated company established in 1978, specializing in standard, next-day ground delivery. With corporate headquarters in St. Cloud, MN, the company has expanded throughout the Midwest and employs over 1,800 individuals. The Support LTL Driver plays a crucial role in daily delivery operations by filling in on open or unassigned routes. This position demands flexibility to adapt to varying routes and schedules while upholding high standards of safety, service, and delivery. The role involves supporting drivers with morning duties, delivering and picking up freight, collecting payments, and ensuring vehicle maintenance and cleanliness.

Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a doubles/triples endorsement
  • Must possess good customer service and organizational skills
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical exam
  • Ability to bend, lift, twist, climb stairs, while moving freight on and off company vehicle
  • Ability to lift and move freight weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR successfully complete Company paid CDL training program

Responsibilities

  • Cover open, vacant or temporarily unassigned routes based on business needs
  • Assist drivers with daily morning duties such as sorting freight, loading trucks and other duties as needed
  • Deliver and pick up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippers
  • Inspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicle
  • Collect payments as needed
  • Verify the content of pickups on shipping papers
  • Notify management of any problems or discrepancies
  • Maintain professional personal appearance as well as cleanliness of vehicle
  • Participate in weekly meetings and communicate goals and assignments
  • Travel may be required
  • Perform other required duties as assigned
