About The Position

The Support Counselor (SC) takes a lead role and responsibility for working with children, youth, their families, and adults to provide support, education, and advocacy to successfully navigate systems. The SC ensures all team members are active participants in the planning and linkage process. The Support Counselor will focus on a broad range of targeted case management and rehabilitative services meant to provide stabilization and successful reduction of involuntary hospitalization and placement disruption. The TEAMMATES program offers Wraparound, Intensive Field Capable Clinical Services (IFCCS) and IFCCS Outreach Triage Team and Child Outreach Triage Team services that cover a full range of treatment and support. Services are delivered countywide by the same team, with 24-hour referral receipt and 24-hour Crisis Intervention. This is an SED Children and Adolescent driven program, and a Client and Family driven program with mutually agreed services by service provider and family. The program has contracts with DMH and Child Protected Services and Probation.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED, HiSET, etc.) required.
  • Three (3) years experience with severely emotionally disturbed children and families.
  • Valid California Driver’s License.
  • Spanish Speaking Required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in a Mental Health, Human Services or closely related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience with severely emotionally disturbed children and families.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mental Health, Human Services, or closely related field.
  • One (1) year experience working with severely emotionally disturbed children and/or families.
